Temple City High School Brighter Side Singers Perform Annual Extravaganza

The Brighter Side Singers, under the direction of Matthew Byers, are a select group of singers and dancers who perform throughout the southern California area. The group was founded in 1956, and has since maintained a high degree of musical ability. The singers perform a variety of musical styles including classical, pop, Broadway and jazz. They have been featured singers at benefit concerts in California and Washington DC., at sporting events throughout southern California and the east coast, and in the past have toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Western Europe. This year’s group consists of twenty two singers from various ethnic backgrounds, and are all between the ages of fifteen and eighteen. they perform in two, 3 and 4- part harmony, both a cappella and with accompaniment. their director and accompanist are past brighter side singers. The group also utilizes the services of a professional choreographer, who has performed around the country as well. temple city high school is a four-year school for pupils fourteen to eighteen, which prepares students for advanced placement in technical, trade, college and university levels. the school was founded in 1953. class offerings include music, dance, art, math and sciences, history, english and foreign languages, athletics, as well as a variety of campus clubs and activities.
