Arcadia Water Festival Celebrates Conservation

January 26th, 2009 by Temple City Tribune

The annual Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water Distict in conjunction with the County of  Los Angeles sponsored the popular fall event Saturday at Arcadia County Park.   According to the District President Leon Garcia, the San Gabriel Valley has seen a voluntary reduction of usage to the tune of 15% over the past

decade, due in no small part to intense consumer education and media attention to the environment and

community outreach.

Hundreds of people braved the cooler temperatures and sprinkles of the wet stuff, to learn about, the wet stuff – water and its vital role in our lives.

There were numerous educational games which were also fun for the kids, a petting zoo and a live pumpkin carving by Kevin Smith going on throughout the day.

Other activities included booths and giveaways of all sorts to promote environmental awareness and consciousness.
