Duarte Public Safety Director Brian Villalobos and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. will host an open forum to discuss the recent street violence that resulted in the fatal shooting of an 18 year-old Duarte man on Feb. 9.
The forum will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Andres Duarte Elementary School Cafeteria, 1433 Crestfield Dr. and Central Ave. All residents are invited to attend.
Miguel Sanchez was fatally shot while walking in the 2500 block of Millbrae Ave. with a 17 year-old friend just after 6:30 p.m. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that as the teens were walking, a dark vehicle pulled up and someone opened fire from the rear window. Mr. Sanchez was struck once in the upper torso and died at the scene. His friend was unharmed.
The vehicle is believed to be a Dodge Magnum that sped away immediately. Detectives believe the suspects have gang ties.
