Arcadia, Monrovia Join to Offer Popular Worm Composting Workshop
A Worm Composting Workshop, co-sponsored by the City of Monrovia and the City of Arcadia, will be offered on Saturday, September 27 at 10 a.m. in Monrovia’s Recreation Park located at 600 S. Shamrock Avenue. These popular workshops often sell-out and have been featured in Sunset Magazine and presented at the Shipley Nature Center in Huntington Beach by Alan Piercy of VermiPRO. Pre-registration is required.
The workshop will address how vermicomposting, using red worms, benefits the environment by keeping food waste out of local landfills. The castings and liquid fertilizers created by worm composting are rich in nutrients and can be used in gardens and houseplants.
The $10 workshop registration fee will be applied toward the purchase of a worm bin. Worm bins and worms will be available to workshop participants at a reduced price. Space is limited. Online registration is available at www.ci.monrovia.ca.us or register by calling (626) 932-5575. For more information, contact Sharon Gallant at the City of Monrovia’s Public Works Department, (626) 932-5553.
