Kiwanis Club of Temple City was pleased to have honored two outstanding students from the Dr. Doug Sears Learning Center. Accompanying the students were CLC teacher Mr. Sean Patterson and Principal Stephen Edo. Both students are in Mr. Rios, Mrs. Billings, and Mr. Patterson’s class.
Tiffany is 16 years old and enjoys listening to music, writing poetry lyrics and art. Tiffany said, “The best things about CLC are the great teachers and staff.” The best thing that ever happened was meeting some of her heroes. Personal goals are to change her family’s situation, have concerts at her house, catch up on her credits, graduate from high school, and to make it in the music industry.
Vincent is 17 years old and has four brothers and sisters. Vincent enjoys football, cars, and engineering. He said, “The best things about CLC are the hours, good teachers, and informative classes.” The best thing that ever happened was having the same girlfriend for five years. Personal goals are to construct an economic system where money spent and lost would be maintained in a more responsible fashion, graduate and get into Cal Poly Pomona, and to continue coaching his siblings in their sports activities.
Each week the Temple City Kiwanis Club is pleased to recognize outstanding students and their teachers from Cloverly, Emperor, Longden, and the Dr. Doug Sears Learning Center. Kiwanis treats students and their teacher to lunch. Students receive a certificate, a letter for their parents, a bumper sticker, a gift certificate from The Hat Restaurant, and a photograph of them receiving their award. Their photo will also be published in Temple City Life, Temple City Tribune, Mid Valley News, and displayed in the Temple City Unified School District lobby.
Temple City Kiwanis has been serving our community since 1939. Members are dedicated men and women who desire to make a difference in the quality of life for the youth of Temple City.
