The City of San Gabriel will celebrate Independence Day with the annual 4th of July Parade and Kids’ Day festivities on Saturday, July 4.
The parade will begin in the Mission District at 9:30 a.m. and travel to Smith Park, where there will be a family picnic and barbecue.
The parade will start at Mission Elementary School, 416 S. Mission Drive, then head east on Broadway to Smith Park, 232 W. Broadway Ave. Following the parade, the Kids’ Day picnic will offer free barbecue lunch, summer activities including a watermelon eating contest, community booths and other games.
The parade will begin at Plaza Park, 428 S. Mission Drive, head north on Mission Drive and then east on Broadway to Smith Park, 232 W. Broadway Ave. Following the parade, the Kids’ Day picnic will offer a free barbecue lunch, entertainment provided by San Gabriel Library, free recreational swim, summer activities including a watermelon eating contest and picnic games, and booths sponsored by community organizations.
Any member of the community can participate in the parade for free and registration will be accepted up to the day of the parade. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. at Plaza Park on July 4. Parade participants can win prizes for patriotic attire and decorations.
